Help
Installing
Windows
- Download the Windows installer from the Download page.
- Open it. Because this test build is unsigned, Windows may show "Windows protected your PC". Choose More info, then Run anyway.
- Follow the steps. OurLogins installs just for you and doesn't need an administrator.
Mac
- Download the Mac disk image and open it.
- Drag OurLogins into Applications.
- Open OurLogins from Applications. Because this test build isn't notarized by Apple, macOS says it can't verify it. Click Done (or OK).
- Open System Settings → Privacy & Security, scroll down to the message about OurLogins, and click Open Anyway. Enter your Mac password if asked, then choose Open Anyway once more.
- On macOS 14 or earlier you can instead right-click (or Control-click) OurLogins in Applications and choose Open.
- You only need to do this the first time.
Adding the browser extension
Chrome
- Open OurLogins in the Chrome Web Store and click Add to Chrome.
- If you use Enhanced Safe Browsing, Chrome may say This extension is not trusted by Enhanced Safe Browsing. Chrome says this about every extension from a developer who is new to the Chrome Web Store, for their first few months. Click Continue to install.
- Open OurLogins once; it connects itself to Chrome, Edge and Firefox. If the extension still says OurLogins isn't installed, open Settings in OurLogins, press Repair browser connection, and restart Chrome.
Microsoft Edge
- Edge installs the extension from the Chrome Web Store. Open OurLogins in the Chrome Web Store.
- If Edge shows a bar at the top of the page, click Allow extensions from other stores, then Allow.
- Click Get (or Add to Chrome), then Add extension.
- Open OurLogins once so it can connect itself to Edge (or press Repair browser connection in its Settings), then restart Edge.
Firefox
- Open OurLogins in Firefox Add-ons and click Add to Firefox, then Add.
- Open OurLogins once so it can connect itself to Firefox (or press Repair browser connection in its Settings), then restart Firefox.
Using the extension
On a website's sign-in page, click the OurLogins button in the toolbar. If OurLogins is locked, unlock it in the app — the extension will never ask for your master password. Pick the login and press Fill. If a site asks for the username and password on separate pages, press Fill on each page. If filling doesn't work on a site, use Copy and paste.
To try the extension without your real passwords, use our demo websites.
Quicker: press the fill shortcut, or right-click a sign-in box and choose Fill with OurLogins. If OurLogins has exactly one login for that website, it fills straight away; otherwise the list opens so you can choose.
- The shortcut is Ctrl+Shift+L on Windows and ⌘ Command+Shift+L on a Mac, in Chrome, Edge and Firefox.
- Another password manager, such as Bitwarden, may already use it. The browser gives it to whichever extension was added first.
- To change it, go to
chrome://extensions/shortcuts,edge://extensions/shortcuts, or in Firefoxabout:addons→ gear menu → Manage Extension Shortcuts.
Forgotten master password
We're sorry — it can't be recovered, by you or by us. That is what keeps the vault safe. If you made an encrypted backup, it uses the master password you had when you made it. If you still have your original spreadsheet, you can start a new vault and import it again.
Uninstalling
- Windows: Settings → Apps → OurLogins → Uninstall. This removes the app and its browser connection. Your vault file is kept in
%APPDATA%\OurLoginsin case you need it; delete that folder to remove it. - Mac: Quit OurLogins, then drag it from Applications to the Trash. Your vault stays in
~/Library/Application Support/OurLogins. Before uninstalling, press Turn off browser filling in Settings (under Browser extensions) to remove the browser connection. - To delete your registration too, do that in Settings before uninstalling, or email us (see Privacy).
